Turn Up the Praise

Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. (Psalm 43:5 ESV)

Do you ever talk to yourself? Most of us do even if some of us won’t admit it. I know I do especially when I’m alone. That’s exactly what David is doing at the end of Psalm 43. David is telling his soul that, even though it is in turmoil, he is going to praise God. He is reminding himself where his hope lies.

We need to do the same thing. We need “go to” verses that refocus our thoughts on Jesus. We need to be able to preach to ourselves to remind us of where our hope lies. And, when that negative voice in our head starts to creep in, we need to turn up the volume of our praise. In the words of the great southern theologian Lynyrd Skynyrd, “Turn it up!”

Love Y’all! Be Blessed!
