Avoiding Injury

Episode #43: Avoiding Injury

Likewise, David said, “Let their bountiful table become a snare, a trap that makes them think all is well. Let their blessings cause them to stumble, and let them get what they deserve. Let their eyes go blind so they cannot see, and let their backs be bent forever.”  (Romans 11:9-10)

All throughout my working life I have seen signs posted that show people how to properly lift a load. Even during sports and training, we were told how to properly lift and gain leverage. The signs at work, and my coaches, always told me to bring the load close to me, get a firm grip and bend your knees. This made the lifting easier and kept my body from harm. You could still lift the weight if you did it improperly, but it would cause damage to your body which would result in injury and pain.

How often do we do this in our quest for righteousness? We have a weak grip on the gospel, and we keep Jesus at a distance from the body. Then we bend our backs and strain to work it out. This may seem to work for a while, but it will result in a broken and injured spirit. What we must do to obtain righteousness is bring Jesus close to the body, get a firm grip on His word, bend our knees in submission, and worship Him. Only then will the weight be lifted for us and we can stand.

Let us be a people that avoids spiritual injury, to ourselves and others, by properly working out our faith in view of a right standing with God.

Love Y’all! Be Blessed!
