Episode #53: Blessed Assurance
and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)
What a great verse to go to in light of all the craziness that was 2020. When we feel down, discouraged, depressed and hopeless, this is a great verse to pick you up. It’s easy to look to God in a desperate situation. I believe it’s easier to lift our hands in surrender and praise when we are in the pit of despair and know we can’t get out on our own. It’s easy to look for our Savior but do we recognize Him as our Lord just as easily?
When He says He will never leave or forsake us, He means never. Not only will He be there when we need to be picked up, but, He is also there in the everyday. He is the God who was, who is, and who is to come. In plain terms, He was there before, He is here now, and He will be there then. Let’s open our hearts and our minds to Him in every situation. Let’s be sensitive to His presence in the everyday. Let us be a people who live our lives in the blessed assurance of knowing that God is as close as the breath we breathe out and the next breath we take in.
