Daily Honor

Episode #57: Daily Honor

But God says to the wicked: “What right do you have to recite My statutes and to take My covenant on your lips? You hate instruction and turn your back on My words. (Psalms 50:16-17)

First things first, God is not speaking to non-believers in this passage. He is not talking to those who don’t know Him but are seeking Him. He is talking to His people that He made a covenant with. He is speaking to those who only honor the covenant when they are in the temple.

The modern equivalent would be the Sunday morning only Christian. These are the ones who treat faith like a hobby that is picked up every now and then instead of a discipline that must be practiced every day. He is speaking to those who come on Sunday with a Godly appearance in the congregation but leave the robes of righteousness in the pew when they leave.

We are not instructed to take up our cross once a week. We are instructed to take up our cross and die daily. Christianity demands the all-in commitment that Jesus modeled when he was obedient to death on the cross. Sunday should be the one day we rest in His presence not the one day we are active in our faith.

Let us be a people who take the Word of God to heart and honor him with our actions and words each and every day.

Love Y’all! Be Blessed!
