Episode #59: Press On
I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. But we must hold on to the progress we have already made. (Philippians 3:14,16)
We are all running our race toward the end of our lives. As Christians, our finish line is not heaven. Our finish line is the arms of Jesus who happens to reside in heaven. As with any race, regardless of the distance, you may at times get discouraged by the distance left to run. That is when we need to press on to the goal.
We have an opponent in this race that tries to discourage us. He tries to remind us of our failures and our past iniquities. When he attacks and accuses us, we need to remember how far we’ve already come. Then we remind him of how his race ends. We can say to him, “Yes I was that, yes I did that but, thank God that’s not me anymore. Yes, I fell but God picked me up. Yes, I failed, but God forgave me.” I urge you today to press on to the prize of Jesus Christ.
Let us be a people who run with endurance the race that is set before us and finish the race strong!
