Prayer for All

Episode #60: Prayer for All

“First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.”   (1 Timothy 2:1-2)

I don’t know where you stand politically. I like to believe everyone I know is in agreement with my opinions and that leads to disappointment at times. No matter where you stand politically, Paul gives us instructions to pray for everyone including our leaders. He goes on in verses 3 and 4 to tell us this pleases God because God wants everyone to be saved and know the truth.

I have to admit that is hard for me to do with some administrations. But we need to remember, when Paul wrote this letter, the people were under the rule of the Roman emperor Nero. Nero was one seriously, evil man and yet Paul tells the church to pray that Nero would know the truth and be saved. That’s a hard pill to swallow but it is one that we must take. After all, compared to Jesus, we are all as bad as Nero. If Jesus died for us, he died for the Nero’s in our world as well.

Let us be a people that pray for All leaders, not just the ones we agree with.

Love Y’all! Be Blessed!
