Episode #75: A Little While
“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” (1 Peter 5:10)
How long is a little while? What is the exact amount of time I will have to suffer before I am restored, confirmed, strengthened, and established? The Greek word for “a little while” is also used to mean “few”. In the South we know that “few” is not a lot but it’s not a little either. That same word is used in Matthew 15:34. Jesus asks the disciples, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven and a, FEW, small fish.” Jesus blessed the small meal and then proceeded to use the “few” to feed thousands with 7 baskets full of leftover afterwards.
When the disciples brought their “few” to Jesus, he did exceedingly above and beyond what they could have imagined. He can do the same with our, “little while”, when we give it to Him. Instead of being disappointed because of our “little while”, we need to ask Jesus to bless it the same way He blessed the “few” fish; not for our benefit but for the benefit of many, many others. Praise God for the little while!
Let us be a people who are faithful with our, “Little While”, not discouraged by not knowing just how long it may last.
Love Y’all! be Blessed!
