Episode #77: Family Matters
“Be serious! Be alert! Your adversary the Devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour. Resist him and be firm in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are being experienced by your fellow believers throughout the world.” (1 Peter 5:8-9)
I hear people say, “I don’t need to go to church to be a Christian.” While they are right, this is a very dangerous mindset. Satan is waiting like a lion to attack those that don’t have the safety and strength of the flock. Many times, we feel alone and burdened by our suffering. Peter reminds us that we have fellow believers, brothers, and sisters, all over the world. They face the same trials that we do because we have a common enemy in Satan.
We can find strength, comfort, security, and guidance in the church. When we are open and look around, we will see that there are others in our church that have dealt with what we are dealing with. If we allow them, they can help us in our struggles to fight, stay strong and overcome. That is the benefit of the local church for local believers. When the local church partners with the global church, we strengthen and lift up our family of faith all over the world. It is important to remember that WE ARE NOT ALONE! We have a world-wide family! Let us be a people who not only find strength and encouragement in our church family but who are also sources of it as well for our Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
