Episode #79: Shared Humanity
“Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, Jesus also shared in these, so that through His death He might destroy the one holding the power of death — that is, the Devil — and free those who were held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death.” (Hebrews 2:14-15)
The fear of death hangs over us like sands in an hourglass. But we don’t see both ends of the hourglass. We only see the bottom of it with the sand pouring and have no idea how much sand is left. That causes us to worry about whether we have enough time to tip the scale of righteousness in our favor. Jesus came and lived among us as a man. He was God in human flesh who faced the same trials we face. He shared our humanity so that we can know He has overcome the same trials we will face. His death paid the debt we owe but cannot pay. His resurrection proved that He conquered death and the grave.
In Jesus we no longer have the fear of death hanging over us. We are redeemed and set free through the blood of Jesus on the Cross. We are no longer being crushed by the sands of time because we are covered by the blood of the Lamb. Let us be a people who proclaim, “Oh death, where is your victory? Oh grave, where is your sting?” Praise God! We are redeemed!
Love Y’all! Be Blessed!
