Faith Does

Episode #82: Faith Does

“Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen. For, our ancestors won God’s approval by it. By faith we understand that the universe was created by God’s command, so that what is seen has been made from things that are not visible.” (Hebrews 11:1-3)

Hebrews 11 is referred to as the “Hall of Faith”. These verses above tell us what faith is and also answers the question, “What about those people who died before Jesus came to earth?” Faith is not believing in what can you see yourself or someone else accomplish. Faith is believing that God can deliver on His promises in ways that we can’t do on our own and can’t even imagine. Through faith, we believe He created the world out of nothing using only His words. He called and creation responded.

The “Hall of Faith” is filled with people who responded to the call. When they were given the opportunity to exercise their faith, they responded. Noah built a boat. Abraham picked up and moved his family and was willing to sacrifice his son Isaac out of faith. Sara considered God faithful and had a baby at 90 years old. On and on we see people exercise their faith through Call and Respond. We are called to put our faith in Jesus and receive the grace He offers to us. Living a life of faith will have its’ moments where it just doesn’t make sense to the world and even to us. It’s in those moments that we show our faith by responding. Call and respond, not understand then move. What are you being called to that you need to begin moving on today? Let us be a people who respond, by faith, not by sight.

Love Y’all! be Blessed!
