Episode #83: Response of Service
“Simon’s mother-in-law was lying in bed with a fever, and they told Him about her at once. So He went to her, took her by the hand, and raised her up. The fever left her, and she began to serve them.” (Mark 1:30-31)
Simon (Peter) was the only disciple that was married but that’s not what this passage is about. When Jesus healed Simon’s mother-in-law, she got up and began to serve. Her response is the important part of this passage and serves as an example for the rest of us that have been made new by Jesus.
When we give our lives to Jesus and He saves us, our response should be to serve Him. We do this by serving others. Find somewhere in your church to serve. If you don’t have a church home, find one and get plugged in. If your church isn’t actively serving others, either start the movement in your church or go find a church that is obedient to God and serve there. We were not made new by Jesus to be put on a shelf and admired. We were made new so that we could be put into action. Let us be a people who responds to the gift of our new life with service to our Lord and to others.
Love Y’all! Be Blessed!
