Proper Alignment

Episode #87: Proper Alignment

“Immediately the Pharisees went out and started plotting with the Herodians against Him, how they might destroy Him.”   (Mark 3:6)

The Pharisees were considered leaders of the temple. They believed that only those who strictly kept God’s law were the ones who were considered holy. The Herodians were influential Jews that favored the Herodian dynasty. This was the same dynasty that murdered all the boys two years old and younger when Jesus was born. Herod did this because his reign was threatened by the birth of Jesus the King of the Jews. Jesus and His message of grace threatened the power of the Pharisees over the Jews. Their greed and thirst for power blinded them to who Jesus was. They were so blinded by their own desires that they conspired with the same enemy that murdered hundreds if not thousands of Jewish babies.

The Pharisees chose their own position over Jesus. Sounds ridiculous but we are not so far removed from this same attitude today. When we choose to align ourselves with leaders that promise to give us what we feel we deserve even though those same leaders do not support our biblical beliefs, we choose our position over Jesus. Let us be a people whose values, actions, and allegiances are aligned with God over all other position.

Love Y’all! Be Blessed!
