Episode #111: Ask, Seek, Knock
“And as he sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,” (Mark 13:3 ESV)
Jesus had just predicted the destruction of the temple which caused these disciples to have questions. Rather than talk about it amongst themselves and try to decipher what they just heard, they went straight to the source. They went to Jesus and asked Him privately. How many times have you heard something in church or out about what God is doing or going to do? Have you ever read a scripture that just didn’t make sense? If not, keep reading, it will happen.
When these things happen, we need to take a page from these men and seek a private audience with Jesus. We need to get alone with Him in prayer over what we have heard, and read, and seek His counsel. Verse 5 says, “Then Jesus began telling them…”. They sought Him out for private counseling, and He answered. He will do the same for us if we will seek Him privately. Matthew 7:7 says, “Ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you shall find. Knock and it will be opened to you.” Ask. Seek. Knock. Each one represents a level of prayer and study that leads to a deeper understanding of God’s word and His will. Let us be a people who Ask questions of God, Seek the wisdom of God, and Knock on the doors of heaven so that the doors of His Kingdom will be opened to us.
Love Y’all! Be Blessed!
