Episode #117: Hear and Follow
“Then He came a third time and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough! The time has come. Look, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. Get up; let’s go! See — My betrayer is near.” (Mark 14:41-42)
In verses 32, 34, 38, and 41 we see Jesus give the disciples four commands. 1: Sit here, 2: Stay awake, 3: Watch and pray, 4: The time has come. Get up; let’s go! Throughout the Bible we are given these same commands. Psalm 46:10 tells us to be still and know that He is God. Matthew 25:13 tells us to be alert because we do not know either the day or hour. Mark 13:33 tells us to watch and pray. Finally, with His last command to us in Matthew 28:19, Jesus tells us to, “Go and make disciples of all nations…”.
Let us be a people who obey the call to missions and ministry and heed these commands. Be still, look for God, pray about our calling, and finally, that we clearly hear and follow this last command, “The time has come! Get up! Let’s go!
