Persistent Building

Episode #122: Persistent Building

“Let this Christ, the King of Israel, now come down from the cross, so that we may see and believe!” Those who were crucified with Him were also insulting Him.”    (Mark 15:32)

As Jesus was hanging on the Cross, the crowd was mocking him and hurling insults at Him. Despite all this, Jesus remained silent. The crowd was acting out Psalm 22 nearly word for word and yet, they were blinded by their own lust for blood. They were still demanding a sign from Jesus, but He would not acknowledge them. Jesus could have called an army of angels to fight for Him, but He had a job to do. Just like Nehemiah before Him, Jesus was doing a great work and wouldn’t come down.

Nehemiah was on the wall rebuilding Jerusalem and refused to come down and answer His false accusers. Jesus was on the Cross nailing down the foundations of God’s Kingdom, and He would not come down either. Where are we in the story? Are we standing by demanding a sign from Jesus before we believe? Are we standing silent in the crowd, or, are we joining Jesus in the work of building the Kingdom? Let us be a people who persist in the midst of distraction; a people who are deaf to the insults of the crowd while obedient to the call of our King.

Love Y’all! Be Blessed!
