Episode #124: Only a Stone’s Roll Away
“They were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone from the entrance to the tomb for us? ” Looking up, they observed that the stone — which was very large — had been rolled away.” (Mark 16:3-4)
Many times, in our lives, we have this moment the ladies were facing. There is an obstacle in our way that we know we can’t move. This is the moment that many of us turn back. We have weighed out the pros and cons and realized that we cannot complete the task. If these ladies had turned back at this moment, they would not have seen that the stone was already rolled away. They would have turned back because of the thought that they could not conquer the stone and they would have missed the bigger miracle that Jesus had already conquered the grave!
In ministry and mission work and even in our life of faith, we will have many moments where we perceive stones in our path that we cannot move. What looks like a big deal for us is not an obstacle to overcome but an opportunity to see a bigger miracle on the other side. Don’t get discouraged! Stay on the path! Let us be a people, who remember, that what we are seeking is only a stone’s roll away and that it is not up to us to move the stone. God has already rolled back the stone! We simply need to keep moving in order to see what He has revealed on the other side of our obedience.
