Kingdom Built, Not Restored

Episode #125: Kingdom Built, Not Restored

“So when they had come together, they asked Him, “Lord, are You restoring the kingdom to Israel at this time? ”    (Acts 1:6)

Jesus had been crucified, placed in the tomb, and was resurrected. He was now with the disciples for forty days before His ascension back to heaven. Even after witnessing all these events, they still wanted to know if Jesus was going to overthrow the oppressive foreign government that ruled Israel. Even now they were waiting for obstacles to be cleared before they thought they could get started on their ministry.

We fall into this same trap today. We want the path to be cleared before we move. Jesus didn’t promise a clear path. He told them, and us, to stay put until we receive the promise of the Father (verse 4) which is the Holy Spirit (verse 5). When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, no obstacle, not even an oppressive government, can stand in the way of the work of God. The work of God is not to restore any nation on this earth, but to build His Kingdom in the here and now. This is the work we as Christians need to be focused on. We are not here to restore any glory to any nation, regardless of our citizenship. Let us be a people who are the builders of the Kingdom of God in the here and now, not the great beyond.

Love Y’all! Be Blessed!
