Episode #127: Living in Prayer and on a Promise
“Starting with Samuel, every prophet spoke about what is happening today. You are the children of those prophets, and you are included in the covenant God promised to your ancestors….” (Acts 3:24-25)
Did you know that we are in the Bible? Did you know that every prophet from Samuel forward prayed for us? Even Moses and Abraham prayed for us. Too often we view prophecy as some mystical ability to predict the future. I submit to you that we view prophecy from the Old Testament as prayers, lifted up to God about the future, our future. When we see this Old Testament prophecy as prayer, we can see how God answered those prayers with Jesus in the New Testament. We are included in those prayers and we are part of the same covenant that God promised to Abraham.
Jesus was the answer to prayer for the New Testament church and He is the answer to our prayers today. The same promise of redemption, deliverance, freedom, and hope belongs to us today through Jesus Christ. In the Old Testament the prophets prayed and in the New Testament, God answered those prayers. Let us be a people who live, in prayer, and, on the promises of God. Let us remember how faithful God has been through the ages and act accordingly to His faithfulness.
